Roof Heatproofing in Pakistan: How a Reflective Coating Cuts the Heat Reaching Your Rooms

A top-floor room in Lahore or Multan in June can be several degrees hotter than the floor below, and the air conditioner runs all afternoon to fight it. A reflective, insulating roof coating bounces much of the sun’s heat away before it enters the slab.

It is a one-time job before summer that makes the rooms below noticeably cooler and the AC bill lighter.

Why it happens in Pakistani homes and buildings

A concrete roof absorbs heat all day and releases it into the rooms below into the night. A white reflective coating reflects a large share of the sunlight and reduces how much the slab heats up.

Signs you need roof heatproofing

• Top-floor rooms far hotter than the rest of the house
• AC running continuously in the afternoon
• A dark or bare concrete roof
• Heat radiating from the ceiling at night

How Shield Agro does roof heatproofing

1. Inspection. We check the roof condition, existing coatings and any seepage that should be fixed first.
2. Cleaning and priming. Dust, moss and loose material are removed and the surface is primed.
3. Crack filling. Cracks and joints are filled so the coating stays continuous.
4. Reflective coating. The heat-reflective coating is applied in multiple coats to full coverage.
5. Handover. You get maintenance guidance to keep the surface clean and reflective.

What is included

• Roof cleaning and priming
• Crack and joint filling
• Multi-coat reflective elastomeric coating
• Coverage of parapet inner faces
• Compatible with existing waterproofing
• Maintenance guidance

What does roof heatproofing cost in Pakistan?

Roof Heatproofing is priced on site after a free inspection. Priced per square foot by roof condition and the coating system, quoted after a site visit. There is no call-out charge, and the price we agree is the price you pay.

How to keep the problem from coming back

• Apply in spring so the coating is ready for the first heatwave
• Combine with waterproofing where the roof also leaks
• Keep the roof clean; dust reduces reflectivity
• Re-coat when the surface dulls

Frequently asked questions

How much cooler will the rooms be?

It depends on the roof, the building and how much sun it takes, so we do not promise a fixed number. Owners generally report that the top-floor ceiling is noticeably cooler to the touch and that the AC reaches its set temperature sooner. We are happy to show you before-and-after surface readings on your own roof.

Does it also stop leaks?

It is water-resistant and helps with light seepage, but it is not a substitute for proper waterproofing on a leaking roof. If the roof leaks, we fix that first and then heatproof over it, or use a combined system.

How long does the coating last?

Several years with basic care. The main enemy is dust: a dirty surface reflects less, so a wash-down before each summer keeps it effective. Recoating is straightforward when the time comes.
